STEEM Food Tours #60: LePeep - Springfield, IL USA (A Tasteem Review)
This restaurant served the best breakfast I have had in quite some time. It was all about the hollandaise sauce!
This is a family-owned business, and this picture of the owner and his outstanding motorcycle greets you as you come in:
The ambiance and the decorating are excellent. Very bright, clean and welcoming.
The table was set with iced lemon water in a carafe and when I ordered coffee, my own thermal pot was provided. I love not having to look around for a waitress when I run out of coffee.
The menu provided several delectable choices for either breakfast or lunch.
I ordered The Wanderer Skillet with sour dough toast. The hollandaise sauce was the best I've ever had. I wasn't familiar with "basted eggs" but they were perfectly done and just the way I ordered them.
My husband was in the mood for lunch rather than breakfast and he ordered the Philly cheesestake sandwich and fries.
The food was outstanding and the price was reasonable with the total bill for meals and drinks was less than $25.00.
I have definitely put this restaurant on my favorite list and will be sure to visit it again the next time I am in Springfield. If you live locally they have a loyalty card and I took one, just because I'm sure we will be eating here often in our travels!
Their website is www.lepeep.com and keep this restaurant in mind if you are in the area!

I love the looks of that skillet! Definitely something I would want to devour. Hollandaise is one of my favorite condiments (if it counts as a condiment haha). Thanks for entering @steemfoodtours and making me hungry!
@jeffjagoeWhat I didn't pour over the eggs I ate right out of the little tub. I would have licked the bowl clean if I wasn't out in public, it was THAT good!!@jeffjagoe

The Wanderer Skillet looks nice and filling. Great for winter :)
It was very filling, I couldn't finish it. But so good I hated to leave any.

@verasj Thank you, one of the best breakfasts I've had in a restaurant.

Looks delicious. Good breakfast places are hard to find where I live. Luckily breakfast isn't so difficult to make myself.
@abitcoinskeptic We have plenty of breakfast options, but few of them are this good.

Nice breakfast spread! Although chips for breakfast is a touch strange! I love poached eggs, I only wish I could do it myself. I've tried it with hollandaise, but I've never really taken to the sauce..
@bengy Yes @crypt-skip wasn't in the mood for breakfast, so he ordered lunch. That's the beauty of eating out, you can each have what you want.
LePeeps called these "basted eggs" so I'm not quite sure what that preparation means but they came out "over easy' doneness, which is what I like and ordered. I've never been that crazy about hollandaise sauce either, but this didn't have that lemony twang that most of them do. And it was very creamy. I could eat it just by eatself!
