The Memories in Om Wahyu Fried Dumpling Noodles |
Kota Bireuen in Aceh, Indonesia, is one of the cities that has a lot of delicious and famous culinary, including various types of noodles ranging from tiew noodles, fried noodles, hun noodles, and dumpling noodles.
Not surprisingly, the Bireuen dumpling noodle becomes a branded one that really sells.
In Lhokseumawe, for the past five months culinary lovers have been able to taste the Bireuen Om Wahyu dumpling noodles that opened outlets at the Premium Coffee Station at Jalan Merdeka, Lhokseumawe, Aceh.
To be able to enjoy Bireuen Om Wahyu dumpling noodles, visitors must come to the Premium Station at the latest by 11.00 am. After of that, you can get dumpling noodles if you're lucky. Om Wahyu dumpling noodles close before noon.
I and family often eat Om Wahyu dumpling noodles, but so far have never known the owner because they ordered directly from the waiter.
Last weekend, February 16, 2020, I also ordered through a waiter. But because I wanted to take a photo of how the dumpling noodles were boiled or fried, I went to their kitchen. Not unexpectedly there I got a surprise.
When I asked about how to cook it, a man asked me whether I was named Ayi Jufridar. I justify. The man turned out to be named Wahyu who became the owner of Om Wahyu's dumpling noodles.
After telling the story, it turned out that it was at my friend's sister while studying at Lhokseumawe State Polytechnic.
I don't remember the time because when I went to his house in 1994, he was a child.
Finally, as he prepares dumplings for me and the customer, we share each other's memories. The older brother of Wahyu, named Muammar Gaddafi (this is not the former President of Libya), now migrated to Jakarta. Wahyu also tells about his parents who have died.
Not wanting to disturb me, I then returned to the table to enjoy fried dumpling noodles.
We ordered three servings. Chicken dumpling noodles filled with crushed chicken breast fillets. Dumpling skin, meatballs for topping or can be adjusted to each taste (there are also those containing chicken eggs), fresh green mustard vegetables, fresh leeks, ginger, lemongrass, and several other types of seasonings.
I watched the chefs make stir-fried flakes of chicken, mustard leaves, tomatoes, and so on. They heat the noodles in boiling water.
For visitors who order boiled dumpling noodles, the noodles are only dipped in hot water a few minutes before serving. On it, sprinkled with fried onions and chicken pieces and of course dumplings.
Dumplings in addition to containing meatballs or eggs, chicken or meat, some also do not contain anything.
Although we ordered fried dumpling noodles, I also asked for the broth I had seen cooked with beef bone. So, when the broth is poured over the noodles, we can taste a mixture of chicken, beef and the aroma of fried onions.
The flavors mixed in one portion of Om Wahyu's fried noodles, are exactly the memories of the past filled with happiness, sadness, beautiful, and bad as in my short story with Wahyu. I think, the taste of fried dumpling noodles that I eat will also be memorable shortly after the plate is empty.[]
