It is my first time joining Tasteem’s activity. Wish I get the correct rules!

There are many Indians in Hong Kong, around 0.5% of the population. In Hong Kong, most Indian restaurants are at Tsim Sha Tsui as most Indians live there. And today, I found a very good Indian Restaurant at the Central District!

The restaurant is called the Central Indian Restaurant. It is operated by Indians. Located at the 1st floor of a commercial building, you may not easily discover it. I was just attracted by its advertisement outside the window. I visited the restaurant during lunch time. The decoration is full of Indian Style and the TV is playing a Bollywood Film which the music made me want to dance also haha.

I am not an expect of Indian dish so I just selected the set meal. It is called the 5 Course Set Meal.

The Set Meal included:
1 Soup of the Day
2 Salad of the Day
3 Appetizers of the Day
4 Choice of Rice or Naan
5 Selection of Main

There were 26 choices of main dish, mainly divided by Vegetarian, chicken, lamb and seafood. I selected lamb madrash and my colleague selected lamb korma. The waiter, who should be the boss, was Indian and spoke English without Indian accent. I believed he moved to Hong Kong when he was very young.

Here is the dish:

Salad and Appetizers: fried soft-shell crab

Soup of the Day: potato vegetable soup

Naan

And the main

The left is lamb korma and the right is lamb madrash. Madrash comes from the name Madras, which is a city of India. In the past, South India was not rich. People liked to use chilli with coconut to cook instead of spices as it was cheaper. So this Lamb Madrash was cooked in coconut favour and spicy.

Korma comes from Urdu, a language of Pakistan and part of north india, which means “cook”. It’s now a common cooking style of north India. It’s not spicy but mild as cream is added, with sweet flavour gravy of nuts.

It’s my favourite way to enjoy Indian curry:

Apart from Madrash and Korma, there are also Saagwalla, Vindaloo, Biryani and so on. All are describing the cooking styles of Indian dishes. There are great knowledges in Indian dishes and I wanna try one by one.

The price is not expensive, around HK$95 (US$12) per set. I recommend this restaurant if you want to try Indian dishes.

Great post for your first go at it, love Indian restaurants, it's so time-consuming and difficult to cook like that at home.

Haha thank you~
Yes! It's time-consuming not only to cook but also to clean after the meal haha

Indian, then next Japanese :P Indian style is like the norm here in Malaysia though.
