the va'a.....tahitian outrigger

va'a is a boat with a float called "ama"....it is very popular in my country, and we are number 1 in this sport.
The most famous race is the "Molokai channel race" in Hawaii, but since 2004, Tahiti has won all editions. The next one, is in October, just before another big race, "Hawaiki nui", in French polynesia. It's a very tuff race, because , it has 3 stages (120 km), below I will show you the details of this race.

Outrigger canoes were originally developed by peoples of the islands of pacific islands for sea travel. They were used to transport these peoples both eastward to Polynesia and New Zealand and westward across the Indian Ocean as far as Madagascar during the Austronesian migration period. While today they continue to be the primary users of the outrigger canoes.
