En el casco histórico de la ciudad de Barquisimeto, concretamente en la Plaza Lara, se encuentra una vieja casona de incuestionable valor arquitectónico e histórico, construida alrededor del año 1634, que albergó en sus inicios a un antiguo convento de franciscanos, y que desde 1965 hasta la actualidad, es sede del Centro Larense de Historia. Anteriormente, en esta edificación que sufrió severos daños durante el terremoto de 1812 que azotara gran parte del territorio nacional, funcionaría luego de su reconstrucción, el Colegio Nacional de Barquisimeto.

Esta institución fundada en 1941, es la encargada de preservar y estudiar la memoria histórica de la región, además en su interior, se encuentra la Fototeca de la ciudad, donde se reguarda no solo el patrimonio fotográfico local, sino de gran parte del país. Lamentablemente, como consecuencia de la crisis que atraviesa Venezuela, el Centro Larense de Historia acusa un déficit de recursos que le impide ejercer a cabalidad su función como academia de la historia regional.

La imagen original, y la cual presento al final de esta publicación, fue realizada a color al igual que el resto de las que tomé aquel día, fruto de una convocatoria promovida por un grupo de fotógrafos locales, y la cual se realizara a través de las redes sociales y la prensa escrita. Posteriormente, hice uso de la aplicación PicsArt, para intervenirla con el objetivo de llevarla al fascinante mundo de la fotografía en blanco y negro.

In the historic center of the city of Barquisimeto, specifically in Plaza Lara, there is an old house of unquestionable architectural and historical value, built around the year 1634, which originally housed an old convent of Franciscans, and that from 1965 to the present, is home to the Larense History Center. Previously, in this building that suffered severe damage during the earthquake of 1812 that struck much of the national territory, it would work after its reconstruction, the National College of Barquisimeto.

This institution founded in 1941, is responsible for preserving and studying the historical memory of the region, also inside, is the Photograph Library of the city, where not only the local photographic heritage, but much of the country. Unfortunately, as a consequence of the crisis that Venezuela is going through, the Larense History Center has a deficit of resources that prevents it from fully exercising its function as an academy of regional history.

The original image, and which I present at the end of this publication, was done in color as well as the rest of the ones I took that day, the result of a call promoted by a group of local photographers, and which was made through social networks and the written press. Later, I made use of the application PicsArt, to intervene with the aim of taking it to the fascinating world of black and white photography.
