Tag Announcement: Where were you when ... (wwyw)
I’m very happy to say that my last wwyw post about 9/11 received a number of quality comments from people around the world.
Thanks to everyone who commented. I really appreciate it! Next time, though, I hope to receive more comments.
It is my hope that opening this tag will help to paint a global picture of how a variety of events, both historical and cultural, are viewed, thought of, celebrated, and practiced throughout the world. In order to be successful, though, quality comments are critical. If a number of people contribute to a root post by sharing their own stories in the comment section, I think we may be able to create a diverse and global first-person documentation of varying events and human experiences that goes beyond the single perspective we are often exposed to.
Nothing is free.
I understand that. In order to make this tag what I would like it to be, I think it is important to encourage people to share their experiences in the comment section of these posts by rewarding them for doing so. I am not a whale, so I can’t reward commenters monetarily with my votes, but to those of you who contribute to any of the posts I submit under this tag, I am more than happy to share the post’s rewards with you.
Moving forward, I plan to promote each of my wwyw posts. This means that after I have recouped the amount I have spent on promotion, I will then split the rewards with all commenters.
That said, please note that I am hoping to receive lengthy, quality comments. If I feel that one comment is more worthy than another comment, based on its length and what I perceive to be the effort put into it, I will divvy the rewards accordingly. When I distribute the rewards to commenters, I will not be considering their authors or their content. Censorship is not something that I wish to participate in. I only hope to encourage and reward participation accordingly and to discourage people from making single word comments and expecting to be rewarded the same as someone who has contributed a well-written paragraph or two.

Any year: My most memorable ball drop was at the Playboy Club in St. Pete, Florida, I think it was 1984.
