Surreal Adventure in the Island of Palawan

in #travel7 years ago (edited)

Call me weird but when I go to the beach, I usually just read and sleep. When my friends and I were planning this trip, I did not expect much and planned to do what I usually do -- sleep, read and eat.

My plan failed. The beaches of El Nido seduced me, they called and did not give up until I play with them. (Insert Moana soundtrack). I was afraid of going to the water because as much as I'm embarrassed to admit, at this age, I still do not know how to swim. But this trip, changed my life. I was able to see what the underwater has to offer...and it is marvelous. I don't want to miss swimming with the fishes and seeing all the sea creatures just because I'm too lazy to learn how to swim. So I'm letting the world know, this girl will take swimming lessons and will soon explore the marvels of the sea.

We wanted to catch the sunset, so as soon as our feet landed in El Nido, we brought our asses to Las Cabanas beach. Unfortunately, it was a little bit rainy that day so we were not able to see Mr. Sun say goodnight.

But the night life in this beach is awesome so we were still very happy and amazed.

Second Day is Tour Day. El Nido offers tours to different islands. In this trip we decided to go to the Secret Lagoon, Shimizu Island, Small Lagoon, Big Lagoon and Seven Commandos Beach or what they call Tour A.

The tour includes boat transfer, buffet lunch, life vest and water equipment. Our tour guide was multi lingual so even our friend from France (whom we just met in Palawan), can understand him. Snorkeling is the main activity of this tour. Be prepared to be attacked by territorial fishes (they're harmless so nothing to worry about) and to be mesmerized by the water creatures.

We were also able to explore the city of Puerto Princesa for only P600 or around $12. Not bad as the city tour lasted for 6 hours. Our friendly tour guide/ tricycle driver/ friend took us to The Crocodile Farm, Mitra's Ranch, Baker's Hill, The Butterfly Garden and the Baywalk.

I am a scaredy cat that even the harmless Palawan horn bill scares me. (This will explain the space between us)

The Bakers Hill is where we decided to have our lunch. There are restaurants, pizza joints, cafe and bakery in the area.

Our Last stop was Baywalk. People stay here to look at the sunset or just have a beer since the place is surrounded by food joints.

I will come back to this paradise soon.

Thank you for reading! Here's a beer for our dreams and friendship. :)
