Cristiano Ronaldo to make shocking move and other transfer news.
Ronaldo to make Prem return with… Chelsea?
Talk of a potential Premier League comeback for Cristiano Ronaldo has focused on Manchester United — but the Sun reckons he could end up at Chelsea instead.
It reports that Ronaldo remains “unhappy with life in Spain” but says United’s signing of Alexis Sanchez “has slammed the door on a potential return to Old Trafford.”
Instead, the paper says it “understands Ronaldo would be open to move to Stamford Bridge in the summer.”
The key could be Eden Hazard, repeatedly linked with Madrid, with the Sun saying Chelsea “could be tempted to let Hazard leave for the Bernabeu if Ronaldo was included in a deal.”
Arsenal’s Auba swoop to bring striking changes
Arsenal’s move for Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang is drawing closer, says the Mail — and that will spark a striker merry-go-round.
It reports that Arsenal have made a breakthrough after “moving closer to Dortmund’s £60m asking price.”
And despite widespread reports that Olivier Giroud would go to Germany as part of the deal, the Mail says he will join Chelsea “if they meet Arsenal’s £35m valuation.”
Meanwhile, Dortmund are ready to make an approach for Michy Batshuayi , who scored twice in Chelsea’s cup win over Newcastle.
City on verge of Laporte deal
Manchester City will wrap up a move for Athletic Bilbao defender Aymeric Laporte very soon, the Telegraph reports.
It says they have triggered Laporte’s £57m release clause — making him Man City’s record transfer — and a medical will take place on Tuesday.
The France Under-21 international has been “a priority target” since the appointment of Pep Guardiola.
Meanwhile, negotiations with Shakhtar Donetsk over a £45m move for Fred are ongoing, with the Telegraph saying he could return to Donetsk on loan for the rest of the season once the transfer is concluded.
Liverpool suffer Alisson angst
Talk of what Liverpool may do in the market often revolves around goalkeepers, with Jurgen Klopp reportedly unconvinced by either Simon Mignolet or Loris Karius.
But the Mail says Klopp has been frustrated after Roma rebuffed a move for Alisson Becker .
Citing reports in Italy, it says Klopp “has identified Alisson as a key target” but Roma want more than £40m and have rejected a bid from Anfield.
West Brom weigh up Deeney swoop
Given the verve with which they attacked at Liverpool, you wouldn’t have thought much needed adding to the West Brom frontline.
But the Mail says the Baggies are “lining up an £18m bid” for Watford striker Troy Deeney .
It reports that manager Alan Pardew has “discussed possible targets including Deeney and Richmond Boakye of Red Star Belgrade.”
Watford have been said to want around £25m for Deeney, but the Mail claims they could accept a lower offer.
