How to make Holyweek Holy

Holy week is the time where Catholic faithful reflect and observe the agony and sacrifice of the Son of God to deliver the world from sin. But have we ask ourselves of how we can make our Holy Week holy? Does the things we do is enough to say that we are making this week holy?

Holy week is about embracing our Creator. All about acceptance of our Lord to our heart, letting Him be the center of our life. Don't get too far from Him and let us back into Him. If we found ourselves being apart from him by doing evil and worldly things, its time to change, time to confess and accept God with all our heart.

Another is to forgive. Forgive all the people who hurt us physically and emotionally. Dont keep any hatred, let our God do his will on that person, just leave it into Him. Let there be peace in the world and in your self.

And its time to do good work. Do good thing to our fellow men. There are lot of people who has bigger problem than us, help them, spend time with them, give something etc. Theres a lot of things you can do to help others. But remember, do good things in silence, not doing it to be praised by everybody.

Express our love to God. The things that we do during Holy week, fasting, station of the cross, prayers and Visita Iglesia are all expression of our love to God. Don't do them because its our tradition, do them with all our heart. And its time to express our love to people. We can start to our family, tell them we love them, tell them before its too late. Don't wait for the grave to come ,tell them how important they are in our life.

Its time also to elliminate/minimize our wrong doings, dont get rid of doing bad things to others. Let there be no more sin, stay away from the things that may cause us to sin.

Its also time to do sacrifice, doing fasting, don't eat meat but eating lobsters and prawns thats not sacrifice anymore. Do it with your heart and with a smile and love what you are doing.

Holy week is not about doing the things that we traditionally do, its about repenting from our sins and going back into Him. It is much better if we do that things everyday not only on holyweek. The Son of god sacrifices His life to save us from our sins, its time to be with Him, to walk with Him and live life with Him.
