Sunday Funday - Shadowrun and Pandemic Legacy

Today was a busy day for gaming. It started with getting together with my old group for a Shadowrun session. We haven't played in over three years, so it was nice to play the game again after so long a break. We switched it up, and our old GM took up with one of his old characters, and one of our previous teammates tried his hand at GM.

The setting was Chicago, snowing in the middle of winter, and we worked our way from the airport to a dive pizza joint. Our squad consisted of Liase (Human Face), Rannath (Awakened Elf Shaman), and Natalia (Human Rigger). We received a mission from the Quantum Princess to repair some relay stations in the Containment Zone (CZ). Sounds easy right?

After haggling over our pay a bit, we accepted the mission. The first relay was at the airport in the CZ. Once we arrived at the address, we saw a small tower with a couple of well armed guards posted out front. We stopped the vans and decided that it was better if we tried to talk our way into the building. The guards did not have a key, but said that their boss inside did. We asked if we could speak to him about repairing the repeater. We introduced ourselves to the supervisor, Mike, and discussed our situation. We opted to bribe the guards and Mike to let us into the tower to complete the repair.

On our way to the second repeater repair, we received a call from Simon, Liase's contact. He had another job for us that he figured we could complete quickly enough for him while were in the CZ. He wanted us to stop by a medical facility that was in an old school to grab a data download. We decided that it was worth it to complete it on our way.

Arriving at the medical facility, we completed a search of the building prior to completing the job. The facility seemed abandoned, but on further searching of the basement, we found a scene from a horror movie. A dozen stasis tanks were in a lab down there. One of the twelve tanks was opened and whatever had been inside had left a mess. A dwarf with a broken neck was laying next to the door, and two lab scientists were also dead from blunt force trauma. It appeared to have happened over a week ago, but we still decided at that point it was best to grab our data get the heck out of there.

Once the data download was completed, we headed out towards our next broken repeater location. When we arrived at the address, we found a small forest next to a creepy playground. Our team felt like the forest seemed to be were the repeater tower might be. Cautiously exploring the woods after the lab incident, we found a false tree. Natalia attempted to pick the maglock on the small door on the tree but failed. She opted to grab the crowbar from the van and we would force it open. Once we had it opened up we replaced the repeater and headed back to our vans.

Just as we got back to the vans, a shot rang out and hit the snow behind us. We quickly ran to our vans and peeled out of there, but not before another shot almost took Rannath's head off as we drove away. As we began our journey back to the pizza joint, our friendly neighborhood Simon called us back. He had another job for us to do, pick up a girl and drop her off with one of the local authorities. We accepted the mission and decided that was a good place to pause our story until next time. We have our theories that she may have been what was in that tank... Our new GM had done a terrific job for his first time.

After the session was over, I headed over to my FLGS, The Gaming Vault, to play our weekly session of Pandemic Legacy Season 2. The first game went poorly, but we knew it probably would from the setup, as one of our cities received a plague cube before the game started. This was for the beginning of August. The second game for the second half of August went much smoother, with us building a permanent Supply Depot on the next city that we have to search from.
