RE: On The Attack On Syria, The Only Thing That Should Matter Is, Was It Constitutional?

in #syria6 years ago

I think this a great article, and I appreciate your bringing it to Steemit, and my attention.

I reckon you have parsed well the Constitution regarding this matter. However, your contention that it is all that matters is ill considered, IMHO.

The Awan spy ring, the collapse of the DNC, the recent EO's imposing martial law, military tribunals, and the continuing reliance on utterly unconstitutional Patriot Act powers to rend, secretly detain, torture, and murder even American children has pretty much rendered the Constitution moot.

I'm surprised it even gets lip service anymore.

When John Yoo (or Yee?), Shrub's legal counsel, said that the President could lawfully crush the testicles of a child in order to interrogate the parents, the concept of human rights was effectively discarded in it's entirety.

As far as I know, that legal interpretation is what the Trump administration relies on today.

Subtleties of constitutional law aren't going to stop the USG from forming, training, and funding terrorists. Not going to stop the banksters, human traffickers, or the CIA that is the one ring to rule them all.

We will personally have to act to create new systems that obviate all those systems controlled by corrupt, perverse, and unjust tyrants to effect our commerce, polity, and security. The technologies that potentiate reforming society so as to utterly preclude tyranny are burgeoning; diffusing across society, across all societies, and enabling us to transact with cryptocurrencies without their approval, to weaponize drones we print at home to effect our personal security without having to call their thugs, and communicate via mesh networks that just skip their compromised surveillance systems.

We will be free. We just have to ignore them long enough for them to go away.

Thanks!
