What's the future of Syria?

Different stages of Syrian conflict:

Syria's situation is very changed from the initial days of "Arab Spring" and continuously changed from one phase to another. Nation wide protests to armed resistance of Free Syrian Army, then rise of Islamist armed groups to the rise of ISIS, Rebels controlling most of areas to losing it to ISIS and then Pro-Assad forces. ISIS fight against Kurd militia groups and US led coalition's campaign against ISIS, Fall of ISIS due to fight against rebels, Turk, Russian, Syrian,Iranian, US and Kurd operations against it and rebels defeats from ISIS and pro-Assad Syrian, Iranian, Hizbollah and Russian forces/militias and losing of vast areas, Divisions among rebels which led to infighting and rise of Islamist groups in Idlib and defeat of pro-US ,Pro-Saudi and Turk rebel groups from Syrian Islamist and Jihadi groups and now compromising with Turk intervention against Kurd in Afrin and retreating from many areas of their last strong hold Idlib. That's the phases Syria gone through but what's coming next? that's the real question and I will try to find the answer.

What's coming next?

Turk Kurd conflict:

Turkey's operation in Afrin is going on with the help of some FSA and other rebel groups on the ground and Kurd's sponsor US is not supporting them to fight against Turkey as US don't want to lose Turkey as a NATO ally to Russia because Turkey is coming closer to Russia after US support of Kurd militias in the region and military failed coup against Turkey. Russia is now trying to perform the role of peace mediator between Turkey and Kurd are both apparently trusting on Russia in their ongoing conflict and it shows Russia's political success in the region after US failed in political moves the region.

Future of Assad government:

It seems like that there will be no removal of government or Assad from power nor the free elections will be held in near future in Syria. Pro- Russia Assad government will remain as they now politically winning the situation with the help of their allies Russia and Iran and after lost of US interest in the region, Turkey is also helping them as Turkey convinces many rebel groups for peace deal with Russia and Assad.

A possible peace deal:

In near future, a peace deal between Assad government and most of the rebel groups is possible with the help of Turkey, but it will not stop the armed resistance from various rebel,Islamist and jihadi groups and this could change from open warfare to guerilla style warfare after losing ground to Pro-Turk rebels or Pro-Assad forces in Syria.

Future of IS inside Syria:

IS will remain as a strong armed force in Syria. The conflict between other forces will give advantage to this terror organization and IS will sure try to capture areas in the future even if they lose it within few days. IS modified itself into a guerilla force and already successfully carrying continuous operations against almost every group or power in Syria.

Syrian Rebel groups future:

Rebels will divide due to Russian and Turk sponsored peace deals with losing more areas. Many rebel groups will directly become dependent on Turkey and few other opposing groups will either chose to leave the ground and start guerilla operation or will be defeated by Pro-Turk rebel groups in order to maintain peace treaties with Russia and Assad government. There are very high chances in Syria of future guerilla style resistance from some of rebel groups who are not dependent on any of foreign powers and Jihadi groups like AQ will not surrender against peace deal.

Other possibilities can be a Kurd vs pro-Assad fight for oil resources or another rise of IS, Turkey's game changing moves in future etc.
So my final conclusion is that unfortunately, Syria will remain in conflicts in future.

If the all world countries' first and foremost interest was to end the war, it would have been finished in one year from the beginning. If they didn't want to start it, it would probably never be so big or at all.

It is sad that some countries (and corporations) benefit from the war and intend or used to intend to support it. I wish health and love to all Syrians, but I doubt they will get it in less than 3 years.

That's why I don't trust any government of the world but actually I hate them all :(

Some especially small countries have very reliable and trustworthy government. Take Iceland, Norway or Switzerland as an example. I disagree on many things with Russian government, but I think they have the best a big federation can get.

Maybe these would be reliable as you said but I don't know much about these particular governments as far as the matter of Russian or US governments then I have no good views about both of them because they made this world like a hell for their own goals and benefits but I agree that in different issues they have different level of criminality.

Wish everything going smoothly in Syria, Ikhwan. May Allah always bless Syria. Salam from Indonesia

Aamin and wassalam bro ♥

When is this going to end? What happened to our generation? Peace become a boring topic to talk about. While Hollywood showbiz and war become an expensive commodity now a days.

Its a sad reality but the problem is that the ways of peace are themselves used for deceiving others so how can be these acceptable for our generation :(

Where are these people getting their arms? That, I think is the big issue that many are not addressing.

That's a big issue but problem is that every one want different type of answers then what can we do? Believe me every power or country which is related to Syrian issue is responsible for directly or indirectly arming different armed groups

Even though the U.S. lost their proxy war in Syria it was still a success for them. No matter how it was going to turn out from the beginning, it provided another avenue for the U.S. military industrial complex to make money by selling their weapons. Now the stage is set for another war in Syria in the future as the place is awash with thousands of weapons and the with the Americans also giving drone technology to their proxies the next Syrian war will be more advanced. This will then provide the U.S. military industrial complex with further opportunities to make money by selling their weapons. The biggest enemy I see of the Syrian people are the American government because while they lost the war, they won the battle by drowning the country in weapons which will lead to further death and destruction and will give them another opportunity to enter the country and say they are acting as the saviours of the Syrian people even though they are the ones who created IS in the beginning. If it weren’t for the Russians successfully bringing about an end to the Americans proxy war I believe Syria would be in a much worse position than they are now. The American military industrial complex will now go on and topple the leader of a different country in which they don’t agree with those in power and next time it may be a democratic country like what happened in Ukraine. And now Ukraine is in a state of civil war with American proxies at the helm of the government in Kiev. Then when the time is right they will return to Syria for another opportunity to make money from selling weapons. I would love to see a lineup of those politicians making the most money out of the military industrial complex along with details of the money they have made to date. If that were allowed to get into the msm then the public who are blind to this may be enlightened to what is going on and the reason for America’s perpetual wars. It is no wonder there are some who call the U.S. the great Satan as they certainly act like it. If the American government thought they had good enough reason to topple Assad then they should also have reason to topple the monarchy of Britain but they don’t as Britain do what they are told and lend their support. They do not invade countries to help the local people, the U.S. politicians do it for personal gain and leave chaos, death and destruction in their wake. Good article.

Maybe US has no right to topple any regime or government in the world, but the people of that country can do whatever they want if they don't follow proxy leaders or groups.

Yes they can but my problem is with the U.S. creating the worst terror group the world has seen all in the name of greed

It is so sad that despite all that effort, eventually in future syria will still remain in conflict.

That's very sad but unfortunately it's reality and we can't run away from reality :(

Yes,that's true

Conflict here and there. It's high time we saw ourselves as one and embrace peace.

Thanks for the enlightenment @haseeb96

Thanks for stopping by dear @brightex82. We can pray for them that " May God bless them with peace".

Do you think that Russia is on top of this proxy war? What is the sentiment on Assad among people on the ground?

Yeah I think so because Russia and Iran are the main sponsor and supporters of Syrian Assad government and both have more investment, weapons, military bases and their soldiers than any other country. We can say If Russia stop supporting Assad than his defeat is inevitable. I will also say that other powers like US, Turkey, Saudi and Jordan have also their shares in this proxy war. Although the majority of Syrians hate Bashar ul Assad but some groups are very loyal to him like his own minority sect of Nussayria Shias see him as their last hope in Syria against ISIS and they fear the rule of any Sunni group.

Thanks for the enlightenment.
Until we begin to see ourselves as fellow humans rather than individual nations or tribe, we are bound to war, it's a pity Syria's case is this tough.

Yeah that's the problem bro, because it's the main cause of most of the wars between us "the human beings".
