RE: Swordmaking in details, the forging of a longsword blade
Reading this was such a refreshing break from all the crypto talk today. So nice to see someone making something with their hands!
It's interesting you mentioned car springs. I recently read Dies the Fire by SM Stirling - instead of a zombie apocalypse it's a fantasy where suddenly the world changes somehow so all high energy reactions stop working - it kills electronics, internal combustion, ect. So they're plunged back into the middle ages. Except where are they going to get their steel? Easy, harvest it from the millions of dead cars on the highway.
Thanks. I am (always) on the lookout for new fantasy or sci-fi to quench my insatiable thirst for such. I will check this one out. And yes car springs are a nice source of high quality steel. But so far steel is too cheap to make it worth it for me to salvage
Yeah, we'll save the car springs for the apocalypse!
If you enjoy Stirling you've got a lot to look forward to; he's written like 15 sequels!
