Vorontsov Palace is rightfully considered one of the main attractions of the Crimea. And a rare tourist is left indifferent by its sharp battlements, stone towers, marble white lions and a wonderful park. In the palace I was several times, but every visit caused me a lot of impressions. I want to share them!
Vorontsovsky Palace is located in the small resort town of Alupka. In summer, dozens of buses with tourists from all over the Crimea come here daily. Therefore, if you want to get here, you should contact any tour company. They always have a tour with a stop at the Vorontsov Palace. You can get here by yourself from Yalta by public transport (buses 102,132), which reaches directly to the surrounding park palace.

Here you can walk for free in the courtyards of the Vorontsov Palace, admire its architecture, stroll around the park

The building was erected from 1828 to 1848 for Count Mikhail Semenovich Vorontsov. He dreamed of his own southern summer residence and began to buy up the surrounding lands. The architects of the palace were Englishman Thomas Harrison and Italian Franz Boffo. Initially, the building was built in the style of neoclassicism. The foundation was laid, but Harrison died in early 1829. He was replaced by another architect, the Englishman Edward Blore.
He and "mixed" the English, neo-gothic and neo-Mauritanian style, resulting in such an unusual Vorontsov Palace in Alupka.

It is noteworthy that Blor was never in the village, but he carefully studied the terrain in accordance with the documents. The construction of the building was followed by his student William Gunt.

The main building material was a stone diabase, mined in the vicinity of Alupka. It is distinguished by its hardness and considerable strength. From huge blocks, workers, using primitive tools, cut blocks and other necessary details for construction. At the construction site, Vorontsov's fortresses were occupied, as well as stonemasons from the Vladimir and Moscow provinces. Exactly the number of builders can not be named, but for 20 years there worked at least several thousand people.

Vorontsov Palace consists of 5 buildings: Main, Library, Economic, Dining and Guest. We finish our walk around the palace with the exposition "The main halls of the Main building of the Vorontsov Palace" and the exposition "Sculpture of the Southern terraces".

In this palace lived and rested 3 generations of the Vorontsovs. In 1921, after nationalization, a museum was created here. During the Great Patriotic War, a lot of works of art were removed from here by the Germans, some of which returned back. The palace itself remained a miracle whole.

Near the park you can find numerous trees, exotic plants, waterfalls and lakes with swans. You can walk in the park for several hours. The air here is clean and fresh. In the park there is a very old tree, people say if you touch it and make a wish, then it will come true.

In the end, we had a great time!
When visiting the Vorontsov Palace, I advise you to wear comfortable shoes, since you will have to walk a lot. The territory of the park and the palace itself is quite large.

If you are planning to visit the Crimea, I advise you to visit the Vorontsov Palace and admire its beauties and grandeur.
