Golden Gate. Crimea.
In Koktebel, my family and I were in August 2013. Among other things, I was very impressed with the excursion on the yacht "Assol" to the symbol and business card of Koktebel - the Golden Gate rock. The rock is located at the very foot of the mountain volcanic massif Kara-Dag and is a part of it.
As the guide told us, for a long time this landmark Koktebel had a completely different name - Shaitan Kapu. In translation from Crimean-Tatar it means Devil's Gate. For several centuries in a row, religious Tatars were seriously considered their entrance to the underworld. Arched rock formations, sharp stone peaks, amazing location, especially in the distant past, surprised, frightened, many who saw it.
Its name Golden Gate quaint coastal rock was not so long ago. Under certain lighting, because of the lichen growing on the rocks, the rock really seems golden. It was considered earlier that if you pass through the Golden Gate arch, you will necessarily fulfill the desire, which was conceived at that moment. But it became impossible. Due to the fact that many microcracks were found in the rock by geologists, it was simply forbidden to travel by boat through the Golden Gate.
