For the first time, Pierre Loti visited Istanbul in 1876. The whole year the writer lived in the Ottoman Empire. Here on the hill in a small cafe he was drinking coffee, and wrote his novel "the Asian games". The writer was inspired by a married woman who often came to this cafe. In the novel, he described the love story of a French officer and a Turkish woman. Thanks to the first work of Pierre Loti becomes popular in the reader's circles.
