Culture of ancient Egypt. Museum in Istanbul

in #swmchallenge6 years ago

 Hi friends!

Today we will make a trip to the Archaeological Museum of Istanbul. In the building of the Museum of the Ancient East there is a small but interesting Department. It is dedicated to the ancient Egyptian culture.

Egyptian culture has passed a difficult and long way of formation. Many of the cultural values that the Egyptians created became the property of all mankind. Therefore, it is always interesting to watch the collection, which presents the history of Ancient Egypt.

The mask that was used to bury the dead

Interestingly, the classical principle of ancient Egyptian culture is belief in eternal life. Great achievements were in the ancient Egyptians in the field of mummification. But without great success in chemistry, physics and medicine, it would be difficult to do so.

Sarcophagi in Istanbul Museum are closed with glass. The light is always muted, or not at all. But when you approach the exhibits, you can turn on the light yourself.

Sarcophagi were found in the ancient city of Thebes. Excavations conducted by the famous archaeologist from France Eugene Grebo. In the area of Deir del Bahri found sarcophagi that belong to the priestesses and priests of the temple of Amun.

So the mummy looks into the modern world from the sarcophagus. Nearby are ritual vessels-canopies. They found them in the tomb of Hetepheres. The canopies are made in the shape of a pitcher with a beast and a human head in the form of a lid. Did they are often made of alabaster. Designed canopies for storage of human organs, which were extracted after death during mummification.

Interestingly, the heart was missing in the deceased. Each mummy got 4 canopies. One was kept light, which were answered by the God hapi. Hapi God has a baboon's head. Canopic jars with a lid in the form of a Jackal kept the stomach. God's name was Duamutef. God Amset guarded the liver. This God has a human head. As you can see, the size of the canopies are different. The intestines are also fetched from the deceased and stored in canopic jars with a Falcon's head. It's God Quebec. Try to remember all the names of Gore's sons. In General, serious protection of organs was after the death of a person.

Very interesting painting of sarcophagi both outside and inside. Well it's much needed to work on the drawings of each tomb. Ancient Egyptian cult-a jeep is painted inside the sarcophagus. Jet is presented in the form of a column. On it 4 cross boards are drawn. Column jed symbolizes the beginning of a new life, represents the spine of Osiris and is a symbol of fertility. Jed has a close connection to the PTA deity. Right on the wall hangs a funeral mask. Located at the bottom right of the container under the Holy rosary. Left on the floor-stands under the head of the mummy.

The Museum presents two sphinxes. One truth without heads (granite), but what there is. The photograph shows a Sphinx with a head of limestone. Dates from 1150-1070 BC for so many years, very well preserved.

Left on the floor in the distance granite Sphinx without head. The center piece of the column with the image of the gods Shu and Nut. Dates from the colon 1550-1070 BC

The head of the king Jupiter-Amon. Dates back to 332-30 BC a Very interesting exhibit. The Period Of Ptolemy

Storage box ushebti. This special figurines in the form of a man who in the afterlife did all the work instead of the owner. They had them in a sarcophagus. Cultural classes are not pleased that after the death of the deceased should work. Therefore, to help send ushebti. They often have various tools in their hands. Thus all the work in the afterlife passed on to the ushebti.

First, ushebti was made of wood Persia, as the historians say. Perseus is an almost extinct tree of Ancient Egypt. The size of the funeral figurines is very different. Some were even up to 50 cm tall.

Behind the glass in the Museum is a statuette Ka. The ancient Egyptians called the human spirit. Ka is the personification of divine power.

One of the stands of the Museum. As you can see, not so many exhibits.

Interesting decoration of Ancient Egypt and one of the most revered symbols. Scarab was considered a sacred insect of the Sun gods, a symbol of rebirth in the afterlife. Modern scientists, having carried out experiments, showed that the scarab is guided by the light of the milky way. The ancient Egyptians revered it is no coincidence these bugs.

Your visit to this museum has many interesting Egyptian pieces.

There are of all sizes and each one has a meaning within the Egyptian culture.

The museum shows them very well preserved and good because it shows with great quality the details of each one.

And it reminds me of the objects that appear in Indiana Jones movies or the Mummy.
