He is considered the patron of our city, because before him in this place there were several churches. All of them were destroyed in the war years. But as they say the Holy place is empty and there is a new beautiful temple. I will tell you a little about the history of other churches.

Still city were not, some vacant lots, but here stood a wooden St. Nicholas Church. This Church burned in the 1768-1774 Russo-Turkish troops. After in 1775 founded the first mail (I will tell about it in another post), and began to rebuild our city Kryvyi Rih, built a new temple, and it is clear that for a city without a Shrine?

It was built in 1798 and has the same name - St. Nicholas Church. But after a few years, namely in 1861, our Krivoy Rog received the status of a city and then it was decided to build in the same place the same temple, but made of stone. In 1863, built around a wooden Church and another stone. They built a temple for the funds of the Alexander Field. This architect was the landowner, lived in Krivoy Rog, it was he who was the first and largest entrepreneur, as they say now. It is he who began to mine iron ore here, it is with his filing the city of Krivoy Rog is now famous in many countries for its ores.

In 1872, the wooden Church was dismantled, because it became dilapidated, and the stone was left.
