The black lions of London.

The composition in the form of "Black Lions", which are in London, in the fortress tower, was made by British artist and sculptor Kendra Heist. These figures of animals are made of an unusual material - galvanized wire and steel frame. They say that the lions guard the tower.

And it all started with the fact that a long time ago, in the 13th century Henry III was presented with a living lion, he received such a gift from Frederick, it is the emperor of the Roman Empire.

Henry the second then lived in the palace of the Tower Fortress, the lions were where to arrange. Since then, there has been a zoo, called "Royal Beasts," which actually created this Henry the second. In the zoo there were a lot of different animals, animals of many breeds and species, bears, ostriches, family of hyenas and wolves, the list of animals is huge.

This zoo was then called "Royal" and existed in the Tower for six hundred years! Here came the people who lived at the palace, and all in order to look at this chic zoo, it lasted until 1830. A simple man was not able to get to this spectacle, mostly admired by royalty. A little later, it was expensive to keep animals, expenses increased and the zoo was decided to be transferred to Regents Park, hence the famous London Zoo began its existence.

And after a while, in 2011, when charitable events were held, the community, called "The History of the Royal Palaces," reacted, and they commissioned the creation of 13 sculptures in the form of animals known to the artist and sculptor.

This sculptor, as I said above, was Kendra Heist. She created a whole collection of animals and named her creation "The History of the Royal Menagerie in the Tower", this collection included the Black Lions. Why is black, this is incomprehensible, but one thing is clear, made of steel and wire frame, perhaps, that's why. Now these sculptures of Lvov adorn the entrance to the fortress of the Tower.
