To date, the estate has been restored and everyone can walk through its corridors and see the exposition. This place is interesting not only from the historical point of view, it also has paintings of past centuries, which will interest every connoisseur of art.

The Palace was built at the last head of Homel Michael Frederick Czartoryski. Previously, there was an old wooden castle. In July 1775 Catherine II was granted the old age of the city for commander Peter Rumyantsev, who distinguished himself in the Russian-Turkish war. Thus for a graph was also provided for financial support for the construction of their own house.

Rumyantsev was conceived a rich residence, to create a project for which at that time would be able to unit architects. After painstaking searches, he finds a suitable candidate – Ivan Stavrov, the author of the St. Petersburg residence of Prince Grigory Potemkin. Some sources also mention the name Yuri Felten, a follower of architect Bartolomeo Rastrelli.

Construction began in 1785, and nine years later there was a magnificent work of art, which in the Belarusian region had not seen before. The residence project is considered a model of Russian classicism in the early years. It is said that the authors were inspired by the works of the legendary Renaissance architect A. Palladio, in particular one of his most famous creations country house La Rotonda.

The facades of the estate were decorated with porticoes of the Corinthian order, rectangular window openings were built along the perimeter, between which pilasters were installed. At the 1st floor front room, 2nd have arranged a bathroom for the hosts and guests on the ground lived a servant.

Only two years after the completion of construction works in 1796, field Marshal Rumyantsev dies, and the residence is inherited by his son Nicholas. Rumyantsev decided to rebuild the Palace, to build a Peter and Paul. The architect for his project was John Clark, who lives in Gomel during the period of 1800-26.

Rumyantsev had quite a rich collection of books and when he died in 1826, this heritage served as the basis for the creation of the Russian state library, which is known to us as "Leninka". Rumyantsev was a famous patron of science, so nowadays in the Museum's collection there are thousands of rare items of past centuries.

The next reconstruction of the estate took place after the change of owner. When N. Rumyantsev died, his brother Sergei sold the estate, the territory was bought by General Ivan Paskevich. For the reconstruction of the house was invited to the master of Poland Adam Idzkowski, it is this author broke a huge Park here. The restructuring lasted for years 1837-51.

Idzkowski significantly changed the design, by constructing the North wing of the 3rd floor, changing the plan of the premises. He also removed the porticos of the Ionian order. At the same time, the wing was dismantled from the South side, and instead there was a tower of four floors (thirty-two meters high), which was conceived as the residence of the owner.

The last owner of the estate was Lieutenant General Fyodor Paskevich, son of commander Ivan Paskevich. During his stay in the Palace he received an offer from a distant relative Rumyantsev, who wanted to buy the house, but Paskevich refused. During the revolution, the estate was confiscated, and in 1919 from his rich collection created Gomel regional Museum of local lore. Here were presented old copies of books, paintings, coins, icons and numerous antique items that were collected by the owners of the estate.
