The first in the world gas streetlights in Salford

Great Britain.  It features greater Manchester County and the small historic town of Salford, which is connected by beautiful bridges across the river Irwell to Manchester. Submitted? And now a short walk along the beautiful promenade with street lamps that look like yellow balls. Their light reflects brightly in the Irwell river.

Salford today - it's 60% of parks and walking areas. This is a place for rest and relaxation. City of romance and youth! Salford, as a city, was recognized only in 1926. The place of industry and crafts was known in the middle ages. Historians say that the settlements here were 7-9 thousand years ago.

Street lights are lighting and decoration of the waterfront. These are old lanterns that have survived to this day. After all, England is most foggy and rainy weather. Street lamps light disperse fog and warm the soul. They will always show you the right way.

The birth of lanterns in this city took place in 1806. They were the first in the world of lamps, which were supplied with gas. Then in 1807 in London were installed lights of a new model. But the gas street lamp festival is celebrated in London and it is believed that the first street was Pell Mall, which was decorated with gas street Wanderers. This is understandable-after all, the capital! But the old waterfront lanterns in Salford are not offended by the London lanterns. After all, the mission is to help people!

Old street lamps in their original form have survived to this day in solford. The design was specially made for gas. Long pipe and bowl at the top. The upper part recently changed, with the advent of electricity. But changed only by the fact that the inside of the bowl put the glass balls. Everything else was left.

The Irwell river is very clear and transparent. Guests of the river are white swans! Very majestically moving on the water surface.
