Lviv. Museum-pharmacy.

Lviv, a beautiful city in the west of Ukraine. On the streets of this city you can see a lot of interesting things. For example, on one of them, the Market Square, by the way the central square in the city, in a dilapidated pharmacy there is a museum.

For the first time this pharmacy was created by one of the military pharmacists, in 1735, this is how many years have passed, and the memory has remained and the Lviv people revere it. Subsequently, the pharmacy was very often changed by the owners, but it still works. The museum was founded here after 231 (1966).

Pharmacy building is rich in exhibits, there are more than 8 thousand of them here. Shall we walk a little along the building?

Room number 1
It can easily enter directly from the Market Square, now there is a lively trade in pharmaceuticals, as in a regular pharmacy. There is the first museum hall of the pharmacy. It has old pre-revolutionary oak cupboards with hand carving. In each locker there is a tableware for pharmaceutical purposes, it has been used since the 18th century.

Tableware, porcelain, glass. An interesting type of scales, for measuring the dosage of drugs, on these scales is the image of Aesculapius and Gigui, this is the founder of medicine with his daughter. On the left side of the storefronts there is an old kerosene, which is not surprising, because kerosene was invented in 1852, in Lviv. Beautifully painted ceiling, it hangs a candelabrum.

Room number 2
This room contains many medicines, chemist's utensils of those times. Machines for the manufacture of tablets, earlier on these machines were manufactured tablets. Ampoules of different caliber, scales, mortars, in order to pound the substance into powder. It is interesting to look at the book, it is old in it written many ancient recipes from various diseases. This book was written by the very first pharmacists of Lviv. There is a storehouse of poisons and drugs, such as morphine, etc.

Room number 3
This room holds the entire history of medicine of those times. At each stand, you can read a lot of interesting information, for example, who created medicine and when, how to make medicinal powders, tablets, herbal remedies and so on. It is possible to familiarize with various adaptations for drying of grasses, cutting, pressing. Well, of course the plants themselves, they are probably collected from a large number of countries in huge numbers.

Cellars
In the bins you can see what the pharmacy has a laboratory. And there is another room, it is specially dedicated to alchemy, there are a lot of stuffed animals in the room, lunar calendars, tables with elements. In general, the place is interesting. I would even say the pharmacist's dream. Previously, there was a family of pharmacists in this house, and now, on the first floor, this is a pharmacy-museum with its cellars, and the floors above, an ordinary house in which ordinary people live.
