Five historical districts of Gyeongju City. Hwyongyongsa District (황룡사 지구)
The main attraction of this area is the Buddhist temple of Hwyannos. And here there were legends. In 533, when the throne belonged to King Chinghin, it was planned to build a royal palace, but in this place a yellow dragon appeared, and then the palace was decided to be moved to another place, and the construction of a Buddhist temple began instead.
Hwannons's Pagoda at night
The total area of the Hwannönsa temple is about 380 thousand square meters. From 4 sides the temple is surrounded by mountains. First built a 9-storey wooden pagoda 80 meters high.
The legend says that 9 tiers of pagoda are 9 Asian nations.
Gyeongju Expo Building
Recently, 100 meters from the pagoda, a tall building with a unique design of Gyeongju Expo was built.
