RE: Take a swim in an oasis in the hottest desert on Earth
What a hard landscape but at the same time so fascinating; I could read that many investigators had assumed that Lut Desert was too hostile to sustain life, but adventurers and occasional scientists who traveled to Lut saw various species of animals, including insects, reptiles and desert foxes: How that food web remains without plants has been a mystery. Research teams confirmed the existence of a vibrant ecosystem and saw convincing signs that migratory birds do help to feed it; they also discovered that the completely dry landscape hides what they call a "hidden sea": a surprisingly shallow layer of salty groundwater that can also help sustain life ... Very good theme @ nameless-berk. Greetings.
