TRAVEL CONTEST: ABOUT MY TRIP TO OLUMO ROCK TOURIST ATTRACTION CENTER
To start with, let me say my best hobby is to visit new places and have fun. My visit to OLUMO ROCK was catalysed by a friend of mine, Mr Tobi Alawode who came to say hi during his leisure time,He had to travel from Lagos state to Osogbo, Osun state where i temporarily dwelled. We were bored during the first two days of visit as he was tired of gisting alone, i knew chilling out would be the solution to his boredomness. I moved a motion about us visiting a tourist attraction center where we could enjoy the fun of nature. He suggested three attraction centers in the south western part of Nigeria, which were Erinjesha water fall in Osun state and Olumo rock tourist center in Ogun state and Idanre Hill in Ondo State. After looking into the best considering the money we had on us, we settled for Olumo rock tourist center in Abeokuta, Ogun state. We both had to travel for 3 hours from where I lived in Osogbo to the attraction center. During our journey, we were anxious to know what we were going to experience and both of us started surfing the internet about the attraction center. Finally we got to Abeokuta and located the attraction center since it was a popular place.
We were made to understand when we got there, that there are two channels of getting to the apogee of the rock where you can see all the houses in the city, it is either we use the elevator or we climb the stairs before climbing the rock which we felt would be more adventurous.
we were scared because every where was slippery because rain fell before we climbed the rock, my friend wanted to go back to use the elevator because it was seeming as if we would fall but I encouraged him to persist, atlast we got to the zenith point of the rock and met so many people who came for the same purpose.
From the apex of the rock, you can see different places in the city of Abeokuta, part of the places in Aeokuta that were shown to us includes the Alake of Egbaland palace in Ake, Itoku market which is the Popular place where people comes to buy Adire and tie and die cloth and st peter's cathedral Church which is the first church in Nigeria.
We were meant to understand that Olumo rock in some years past was used as a hiding place for the people of Abeokuta and we were shown the exact hiding arena.
It was really an unforgetable adventurous experience, from there my friend headed back to lagos while i left for osogbo.
