Swami Vivekananda The Great Monk From India | If You Want to know about India then Study Swami Vivekananda | His Extraordinary power of concentration inspired the millions !!!

I am not sure, to start with, if “monk” is the right word for Swami Vivekananda but I suspect it is really linked to muni and mauna, both venerable and ancient Sanskrit words.

It is a well-known fact that Swami Vivekananda was a powerful orator whose speeches had the capacity to invoke great emotion in his listeners. Was there a secret to his success? Yes, as the following incident from his life beautifully illustrates:

When Swami Vivekananda first arrived in the United States, he was an unknown monk not just to Americans, but to a vast majority of Indians as well. But all this changed on the historic day of September 11th 1893, when Swami Vivekananda arose for the first time, to address an august gathering of 7,000 people, at the World’s Parliament of Religions in Chicago.

He opened his speech with the words “Sisters and Brothers of America”, forgoing the customary “Ladies and Gentlemen”. This simple, yet sincere greeting from an unknown monk, so moved the audience that the entire hall immediately stood up to an applause which lasted for a full two minutes (Reference: Vivekananda a Biography, page 133).

Newspapers of the time report, that by the time his speech ended, the crowd was so enamoured that people were clamouring over benches to get near him.
