Beautiful idea, thanks for sharing!

My pleasure. Actually, it is such a simple, pleasurable, empowering thing to do.... so easy, and most herbs like this can happily grow in pots in even the smallest spaces. :)

Yes, for as long as I remember, you've had this addiction.

Yup - but I don't hear you complaining when I make pesto. :) au contraire.

Not complaining, your pesto is amazing.

Taking care and gardening your own food must be the best thing you can do in life :) I would love to live in a house that I can do a little gardening in.

Gardening and growing your own food is such a pleasure - yes! - and also brings such a deep sense of connectedness to life and the critters. Thank you for the steem love. :)

Avocado and mango trees!! I'm jealous :) Tires are good for planting potatoes? Really?! Do you just fill the tire with dirt and stick the taters in, or is there some other trick to it? I've got two tires lying around that I picked up on a litter cleanup walk.

The tires. So fill the first one with soil and well rotted compost and poke your potato eyes in. The plants will shoot and grow. As they get taller, pop the second tire on and fill up a few inches more of rotted compost. The plant will keep growing taller to stay above the soil, and the plant grows the potatoes vertically. The tires protect them from the light, which is super important as green potatoes are really toxic. It keeps the potatoes contained and also means the harvest is much easier - no painful digging or potentially ruining your produce - just dismantle and remove your crop. :)

local production and consumption is one of the pillars of sustainable development and one of the most healthy lifestyles. Great!

It's true. And the best kind of local is your own garden. Something very special about eating those plants that you grow with intention. :)

Fantastic post! I am so inspired by you! One day I want to have a space where I can be zero waste and grow our own food but for now we simply do our best where we are! Thanx for sharing and continuing to inspire me! Lots of love to you!

Everyone can do herbs in pots, even in the tiniest spaces. And such important teaching and learning for your little guy - kids LOVE to dig and take care of plants! :)
