too good to go...
I have been hunting for a new job for a while now and on my search I come across companies that I did not know and do things that I admire.
Too Good To Go is one of those companies.
They have come up with the great Idea to approach restaurants, bakeries, supermarkets and to have them sell the stuff that is actually still good but would be thrown away.
I really like this approach. Its sustainable and green.
They are wastewarriors
Now most people like to think that they are doing sustainable things but then push comes to shove and they do not want to invest the effort. Now if you are a small business owner that has to do with food and you want to reduce waste you can do so AND you can even make a bit more revenue.
So the will to do good and be sustainable is incentivised on both sides
- the company sells their leftovers
- the buyer gets cheaper goods that are still perfectly edible.
There is food lost or wasted all along the chain from farm to table. And it’s not just the food itself that goes to waste, it’s all the resources that went into making it, from water to land and labour. When wasted, food has a harmful effect on the environment - it’s responsible for 8% of the global greenhouse gas emissions!
So if you live in any of the following countries it might be a good idea to download their app and join this growing movement. If you have a food related business it might be a good thing to subscribe as well.
As you can see they are mostly located in Europe but seem to be growing fast.
For myself I try to separate waste and aim to reduce it. We separate all our plastics from general, Pet bottles from plastic, cans and aluminium. When shopping we take our own bags and do not use the plastic bags in stores either. In all shops I look to the things that are grown locally as much as possible. Its a little effort but it really becomes a habit after a while.

Garden, preserve garden food, make own spice blends from herbs grown, make own bread when needed & cookies also- too much waste in the pre-packaged food items at the store

We burn any paper products, recycle glass, aluminum, plastic and any paper we cannot burn (glossy mags, etc)
Could you do more?
Oh heavens yes! I am just getting started. A little late in life, but still, I am there!

Im totally gonna check this out to maybe reduce a bit of the crazy swiss prices on shopping stuff...
as in sustainablity....yeah I separate..I bike nearly everything and I eat mostly meatless...I guess those are good things to start with?
