Sustainable Pathway Upgrade

in #sustainability5 years ago

At the @gardenofeden we love to live the most sustainable life possible.

We have gathered all kinds of random materials that others were going to discard in the landfill.
We received about 46 of these cement slabs that have indentations to make a faux brick surface.
I imagine they once were used to create a brick-looking wall.

But we have chosen to put them to a different use.

First of all carrying them around makes for a great workout!
@saramiller has so far hauled about 35 of them from the back of our property all the way to the front, and even in the 100 degree heat of the day!  They weight about 50 lbs. each.  Viviana and I have picked them up and put them down several times, and carried them across the yard from place to place to position them just so.

They are quickly becoming our stepping stones/new pathways that lead away from the main house in the back.  We're finding a way to incorporate their rectangular shape into a curving design, connecting to lead in 4 different directions.

We're going to place a white bird bath as the center focus in this pathway, which adds a lot of charm to the space.  The white is quite the contrast to the natural setting, but they look fresh and bring in the cool feeling of the white from the shower and deck curtains, as well as the large, bell-shaped glass lamp that adorns the yard.

As this is just one possibility for the layout and I'll likely be playing more to find the most epic design, I'll post more pictures as the pathway develops and takes on fluid motion.

I'm grateful to be making impactful upgrades that make a difference for us all.

Greetings appreciated @everlove

I see that your lives in @gardenofeden are respectful of the environment, I congratulate you.

When I see that garden, it only occurs to me to do a good inspection of the soil so as not to leave any sharp objects so that I can walk barefoot. It would be a very nice feeling.

Congratulations to all of you.

All best, Piotr.

We have created our soil from the ground up using recycled materials. We do find strips of plastic tape from cardboard boxes at times, but so far we have been blessed with no foot cutting glass. Though the founder @quinneaker has been seriously cut from glass on a public beach. Being barefoot is our everyday existence--it is indeed awesome!
