Knife

There's something interesting about men and knives. Like old primal instinct that kicks in. It's a tool. It's a weapon. It's a status symbol. It's an extension of body, it will accomplish what bear hands will not. Knife-like tools were used at least two-and-a-half million years ago. That's a long time ago. Originally made of rock, bone, flint, and obsidian, knives have evolved in construction as technology has, with blades being made from bronze, copper, iron, steel, ceramics, and titanium. Today's metallurgy has advanced long way since the rock tools. And produced Steel alloys that are excellent at edge retention, is highly rust resistant and is fairly easy to sharpen. There are many different steels, but some stand out. Like S30V, in the picture you can see Spyderco's Paramilitary 2 with S30V steel. Spyderco is great knife maker, I am sure most of you know, but I must tell you, if you never owned a knife with this steel, you will feel the difference right away.

"CPM S30V (often simply referred to as S30V) Dollar for dollar, this is generally regarded as one of the finest knife blade steels with the optimal balance of edge retention, hardness and toughness."

So, I encourage you in this day of plenty. To give it a try, get yourself a knife with S30V and tell me in the comments if you feel the difference from other steels. If you're interested in more Steel and Knife posts or you want me to do specific knife, drop me a message in the comments bellow.
