S-C accepts Imran Khan’s petition for FATA-KP merger for hearing
PESHAWAR: The Supreme Court of Pakistan has rejected the objections of the Registrar on the petition of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan for merger of FATA with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar while rejecting the objections asked the Registrar to fix date for hearing of the petition. Imran Khan has said in the petition that the KP government has finalized preparations for merger of FATA with KP, but the federal government is delaying the matter on different pretexts. He said the President had announced FATA Reforms Package after consolation with the KP government and other institutions and the provincial government had also made legislation in this regard. He said the Center is now backtracking from its promises due to political reasons.
The petition has made the President of Pakistan, Ministry of Law, Ministry of States and Frontier Regions and FATA Secretariat chief as respondents in the matter.
