RE: Shake the winter-blues with 5-htp, a natural (legal) mood booster!
I get TERRIBLE winter blues! This sounds like an interesting supplement to look into...an occasional all natural 'happy pill' to top up/balance out the serotonin levels. I have severe chronic pain but no longer take any prescription drugs. Most of the time...I am perfectly okay with mental coping techniques to control the symptoms...but every once in awhile I could really use something else to take the edge off. My mood tends to quite drastically effect my pain levels...so I am always interested in new supplements which could be added to my current routine. Possible interactions aren't always easy to find the research on or particularly reliable though...lol. Anyway thank you for the interesting read! Much love and light! <3
Hello @creativesoul!
Thank you for the friendly comment! Maybe you will benefit from supplementing with some 5-htp, just don't forget to take it with some vitamin B6 and something sweet, on an empty stomach! You can also try supplementing with vitamin D and Omega-3 for "winter blues". Just check with your doctor so there is no problems combining it with your current medication, you can also try: https://www.webmd.com/interaction-checker/ .
Here is a clip of Jim Carey recommending 5-htp:
I already take Vitamin D and Omega-3 and don't notice much of a difference in the blues. Always have B12 on hand and take daily...but don't currently take B6 directly. Alpha lipoic acid...magnesium citrate and astaxanthin should be okay...but gonna research some more...thanks again! <3
I think the best way to get vitamin D is from the sun...
Never heard of astaxanthin & Alpha lipoic acid, (looked them up looks interesting).
I do take loads of magnesium from time to time... Like 1 gram per dose...
(Going to write more about new interesting supplements soon).
Really nice to have you around @creativesoul, thanks for your feedback!
