Injury Update - Joey Savatgy
Hi Steemers,
Another of the unfortunate casualties from round two of the Monster Energy Supercross in Glendale was 450 SX rookie Joey Savatgy. The crash was not captured by the events cameras but we did get to see he was conscious and talking to the alpinestar medical crew shortly after. News has been released that the Monster Energy Kawasaki rider was diagnosed with concussion following the accident which means he could not return for the LCQ.
The rule book is very clear about this type of injury and states:
Monster Energy AMA Supercross concussion protocol
“If concussion is suspected, the rider is required to go directly to the Alpinestars Mobile Medical Unit. The athlete is not allowed to return to practice and/or racing until additional testing is performed.”
I will update you guys with more news as it filters down from the top. Hopefully Savatgy will be cleared for round three but as always it's best to be cautious with head injuries.
