Super Bowl is the name given to the final match of the National Football League (NFL) championship, the main professional football championship in the United States, in which the champions face each other. of the National Conference (NFC) and the American Conference (AFC).

The game is held on the first Sunday of February and is named after Lamar Hunt, former owner of Kansas City Chiefs, who called it that way to differentiate it from the rest of bowls that were disputed. The idea came to his head because his son played with a bouncing ball called "super ball".

The first Super Bowl was played on January 15, 1967 (the first winner was Green Bay) as part of an agreement between the National Football League and the other existing championship at that time, the American Football League (AFL), so that winners of each competition will play a game that decides the United States champion. When the AFL was integrated into the NFL, each league became a conference and the game became one of its champions. The team that has won the most times has been Pittsburgh Steelers (six times), and there are only four of the 32 franchises in the NFL that have never played the final.

Outside of the sports arena, the Super Bowl is one of the most watched television broadcasts in the United States every year. Many musicians have performed during the ceremonies before the game and at the break, the advertising strip is the most expensive of the year, and the day of the match (known as "Super Sunday") is considered de facto as a national holiday.
