Sun Thursday - Vilamoura, Portugal
Sunrise over Vilamoura, Algarve, Portugal, taken from our long-stay winter 'home' in Santa Eulalia, a neighbourhood in Albufeira.
This past winter there were a few sandstorms of very fine dust being blown across the sea all the way from Morocco and Algeria, and besides coating everything with this dust and causing some people respiratory problems, the dust in the air did create some unusual light effects in the early morning and evening. I can't be certain if this is the case with this photo, but the colour was very unusual, so either due to the cloud you can see that typically hangs over the coast most mornings, or to these sandstorms. The shot has not been edited, other than cropping, so just natural light as it was on the day.
Taken with a Canon EOS, telephoto zoom lens, handheld, f/20, 1/3200 sec., ISO 1600, focal length 300 mm.
Congrats @brightongreg. Your photo made it on the Top Photographs Daily Selection today :). Upvoted and Resteemd!

Awesome - my second selection! The photos you post inspire me to do better!
Great shot @brightongreg moito obrigado
Thanks. I see you are from Spain. I'm looking for someone Portuguese to check my Portugal post series, written from a Canadian perspective, to point out any errors I make so I don't misconstrue history, culture, etc.
I know quite well Portugal, its landscapes and its history, that in some occasions has been crossed with the one of Spain. It happens to me with history as with journalism, I try to be with her impartially although she has always been very conditioned to partisanship, or fanaticism. Count on me if it is in my hand to collaborate with you, regards. @brightongreg
Thanks so much for getting back to me. Looking forward to collaboration!

Bon dia (Canada time) - you have me at a disadvantage because my Portuguese is very limited, as I have no ear for languages, so my apologies. I'm so pleased you included my photo! How did you find it - tag portugal I assume.
My wife and I have spent almost a year in Portugal, four long-stays since 2012, and really love the people, culture and country. I am a new Steemian and for my first project started a blog series about our experience in Portugal, as a guide for those who might visit. I've been looking for a Portuguese person to check my writing, as it's from a Canadian perspective, and I don't want to make any errors. I'm still not completely sure how Steem works, so is it possible for you to pass the link to my Portugal posts on to your followers, hoping that one or two of them might review my work and point out anything I've got wrong!
Muito obrigado!
Good afternoon (Galician Time).
The "gazeta's" operator is not portuguese, but galego.
(Sorry also my bad english.)
@gazetagaleguia aims to put in value the best posts in the Portuguese language.
Within the search algorithms, occasionally a keyword related to localities is introduced. If your link "jumps" at the right time we will include your publication again.
Unha aperta.
No need to apologize, your English is much much better than my Portuguese or Galacian (do I have your language right?)! Can you tell me more about galego, just interested? And how did you decide to do this work? Thanks for getting back to me.
Galician is the language of Galiza. (Galician=Galego)
Galician was born in the 10th century. (+-)
Look at the evolution of Galician distribution over time:
Galiza is a political entity with limited administrative capacity, recognized by art. 151 of the Spanish constitution.
About GazetaGaleguia Project
Was born around December 2016.
The idea in mind is simple: Build a inmaterial space where all the portugês speaker can came from.(Whatever the spoken dialectal variety)
That intangible continent communicates by sea with each other.
Angola, Mozambique, Cape Verde, Brazil, Portugal, Galicia, Timor-Leste, Macao ... many distant people (250 M) speak the same language and we must keep it to share conversations.
I hope I have explained ;-)
Best regards.
Thanks so much. Even though I don't have an ear for language I'm interested in history and, as a writer, in the origin of words. I didn't know anything about Galiza so this has been very informative!
Great post, great photo! Love Portugal!
Thanks. You should check out my Portugal posts - started out just to post a few tips on getting around, now up to #12 and still have more to tell!
Great deal! I will check them out yes!
Wow, every time I see a new picture from Portugal taken by you I wanna go even more :D Thanks for sharing!
Have you checked out my Portugal posts yet? Lots of other photos there. I realize you are very very busy but I did tell you I would have won your #travelmap Portugal theme if I had known about it - and if you had found time to continue the series. So far @liliana.duarte who had the idea for putting Portugal in your theme hasn't replied to my request for her to look at my posts and check them for accuracy from a Portuguese perspective - I'm writing as a Canadian winter visitor and don't want to get anything wrong about history, culture, etc.
Yeah. I know. She also wrote about Portugal in my travelmap challenge. I am sorry I didn´t have the time to see it yet. I am not planning to go on with travelmap yet.. maybe next month. Right now I am preparing my world trip and just took over Beachwednesday and Sunthursday as you know :) I will go over to check them out now and at least upvote for now :)
Where are you headed?
Colombia - Chile :) Then Asia.
Safe travels. Get some great shots!
I will :)

Thanks much! So I don't have your great city scenes but as I said I do get some shots when I travel!

So far I've only been to Albufeira - thanks for the tip :)
