Sunday Scent experience
My Mondara/bee balm is just beginning to bloom. Just getting close enough to take pictures released the wonderful minty scent.
Spotted this lovely Mondara hybrid growing just down river from my house.

How long does it take for the bee blam to bloom?
These re-seed themselves and come up on their own each spring and always begin blooming mid July. The blossoms last a long time.
They are really pretty.

Thanks!
Such a lovely flower Melinda, I would love to smell them......UPV 😊
They do have an interesting smell! Thanks!
It's like being in a fantasy land... I've not seen any of these flowers before! But they're gorgeous... Love how the bee balm looks like a purple pineapple! And the hybrid looks like Woody Woodpecker's hair! :D
Ha! I will always want to do the Woody laugh every time I see them now.
Hahaha... I know what you mean! :D
Hi Melinda i missed this one! Uped and resteemed ofcourse. I love monardas! And the oil is great too - i ll make a post about it soon. Mine were eaten, i fear, this year. No monarda flowers for me 😐 so i enjoin yours even better!
For whatever reason the deer leave mine alone. Thanks so much for sharing this!
The deer!? That is a bit to exotic - i have a city garden. No i fear its the sludges
Lots of deer and the occasional woodchuck cause the most damage at my house!
I love your shots of your bee balm! They are real standouts in my garden at this time of year. I only have the purple. They are vigorous growers/spreaders. I moved them five times to take them out of one spot and they still come up. Also in the other fives spots! I have come to live with that and just enjoy! :)
I have a border along my driveway where I am happy to have plants take over! Gooseneck is the other one in that area that would like to take over the world!
Hehehehe! Show me!!! :)
