Decline payouts for sensitive posts - a better way to show affection!

in #suicide7 years ago (edited)

Today we have seen a post purporting to mourn the apparent suicide of one of the early and most engaging Steemians.

For sensitive reasons we will not identify the account of the victim nor the post of the poster. All you need to do is to visit the trending tab and you will see it.

We would not tell anyone how to do what they do, however we would advice people to be sensitive to the plight of others.

How sensitive is it to write a post supposedly to be mourning the unfortunate and untimely death(by suicide) of someone only to accept payouts!

We can blog about life, our weirdest fantasies and plagiarized content to make money, is that not enough?

A more "humane" way of showing your condolences would be to decline payouts for such posts.

Do we also have to make money of the death announcement of people? This does not apply to only death announcements but also to disaster issues.

What the fork?

What do you think, Steemit community - let get talking.

I concur with you. In my humble opinion it is very distasteful and disrespectful and I am thankful you brought up this topic up to the community.

Sending prayers to our transitioned Steemian & their family, as well as all who love this amazing Soul.

thank you @karmashine, capitalism does not have to become exploitation. we are all very sorry and regret this very unfortunate incident

1.If we are talking about the same post that I have read from a new comer introducing himself and showing off his knowledge of the steemit community and what he is capable of doing, then I want to close the case with a Biblical that (Mt 15:18) “But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man”, but there is “the freedom of speech”.

2.However, the steemit community is a learning environment, there are few experts around. The writer of that post did not claim expertise in writing. I want to counsel that those who want to stay at the foot of a ladder or the bottom a staircase to hinder those who want to climb up just because they could not climb themselves will remain at the bottom for a long time.

3.The steemit community has an effective policing system such that whatever falls shot of standard is not likely to escape their very watchful eyes. After all nobody can play God by accusing, trying and punishing all by himself, that is why democracies all over the world have the three departments of Executive, Legislature and Judiciary. Only the Almighty God can play all these roles safely, effectively and equitably. (Isaiah 33v22) “For the LORD is our judge, the LORD is our lawgiver, the LORD is our king; he will save us”

4.Bless you all

I agree 1000% with you. But there are people out there with no class who will try to make a buck off anything.

I think it's not up to me to judge how any other Steemian uses the platform as long as abuse is not happening.

I know exactly what post you're referring to, and I don't think the author had any intention that the post would blow up the way it did.

For all you or any of us know, she/he may opt to donate that revenue to a related charity.

It's obvious the post wasn't written to exploit the situation.

As my father would appropriately say, "Tend to your own knitting."

I totally agree with you @prowebwriter. Everyone has their own problems and most people are here to earn a living honestly. Where there is fraudulent activities on the rampage all over the internet some people find this platform comforting especially the third world country because their government has no business in take care of the citizens only to loot the country dry is their priority. So people are fortunate to have found this platform and they decided to share their life's experience or work. Why shouldn't they be rewarded. For all I know the community loved their articles that is why they are upvoted because they believe they earned it. Is that a bad thing?

So very true.
