Of Logan Paul and Aokigahara
Sometimes, people can become hypocrites. I'm going to elaborate this at the end. First, let me provide a brief background on Aokigahara.
Aokigahara is globally known as the 'Suicide Forest.' Yes, it's that forest where people who lost the will to live go to. There are signages which bears "Think of your loved ones." There are also strings connected and tied to trees just in case they changed their mind, they can find their way out. Some of them returned while some did not leave the depths of the forest.
Just recently, Logan Paul caused a stir in the internet for posting a 'vlog' and for making fun of the corpse he stumbled upon.
"This was supposed to be a fun vlog," he said.
But why would this be a 'fun' vlog when you entered Aokigahara - the suicide forest?
Why would you film a dead body and make jokes despite blurring her face?
Is suicide a thing now that we must make fun of?
He apologized and deleted the video but will that undo the damage?
He showed the world that whether you kill yourself or live with the burden of thinking you'd rather die, you will be invalidated. Your reasons. Your feelings. Your pain. Everything.
People go to Aokigahara with heavy hearts and with the intention of not returning. They go there because of helplessness, deep sadness, frustration, and many other feelings WE CANNOT DESCRIBE. To make fun of them is despicable. We should give respect to every thing, living or not.
I'm writing this not just for Logan but to everyone who liked what he did and to those who bashed him but are also like him.
What's more dangerous than people like Logan? It's those who pretend. That's why I say that some people can be hypocrites. Lashing out to Logan Paul but they, too, made fun or invalidated people who killed themselves or with those who have suicidal thoughts.
You will never know the pain. You will never know what's going on in their heads. So if you can't bring back their will to live, do them a favor, do not make fun of them. Do not invalidate them.
I hurt for those who are thinking of leaving this world because I, too, has gone through the same ordeal. And it did not happen only once or twice, it is a recurring thought.
Please check the internet for the suicide hotlines, or you can just DM me on Facebook (fb.com/debi.logs) if you want someone to talk to.
Stumbled on to this post. Would like to say from third person perspective depression is very dangerous. Nothing funny about it. Yet a lot of people do not think it is a problem and laugh at it. I hope stories like yours and many others will make people more aware and be able to react to it. Suicide I think goes hand and hand with depression. Solve what is making people depressed may likely avoid these type of tragic outcomes. I can not believe on this planet there would be such a place where people would go and kill themselves. So sad.
Nothing can be separating nothing that we know or dream or think or taste or smell or what have you can be separated it is all reality it is all something we experience.
Suicide is an area that warrants discussion while suicide is not the solution we need alternative solutions for people to go towards historically one of those places was Harajuku where individuals put on shows and rebelled in society building their own unique communites and friendships these personal connections helped them to live and grow.
What suicide represents is a symptom of a larger problem which is a need for a social support system to help people who are having difficulties in their lives.
It is a tragedy but one that demands discussion on mental health and not fear and loathing.
I really love this post. It's dehumaning to be making fun of people going through dark hours. Just like a quote says: If someone asks you for help, help if you can, but if you can't, wish them well and let them go on their journey. There is no point making them feel less of who they already think they are. Actions like these shows the person's heart lack love. It's not acceptable at all. I hope people read this and learn even more about human interactions, show of love and affections and being a helping hand. Thank you.
Thank you also for understanding what I want to show. 🤗
