Suesa's Science Challenge #2 - it really drives me crazy that misconception that if you work with computers you have to know absolutely everything

in #suesascience7 years ago (edited)

Good afternoon to all, it is the first time that I will participate of this and the truth I do not know if I will be doing well, I hope to improve with the time.

My name is Matias, I live in Argentina (excuse the English since here we speak Spanish) and I am Ing. In computer systems and I work in this for more than 10 years, my tastes in this area is more oriented to the technical and the structures of networks, but it happens to me a lot in my work that it is believed that all those who work in computer systems have to know everything, to program in any language, how all devices work (cell phones, tablets, televisions, smart tv, surveillance, servers, windows, linux routers, etc) and most do not understand that the universe of information technology is immense and it is practically impossible to know absolutely everything, every one of us that work in computer science has its specialty, has something that understands better and is better.
and it really drives me crazy that misconception that if you work with computers you have to know absolutely everything. there is a group in another social network where we laugh at this kind of thing, where we take humorously different requests from customers or users is called "we step in systems."

Well it is my humble post about the misconceptions that make us crazy, I hope this within the rules of the challenge.

I wish you all the best.

Exactly! I think everyone in tech can relate with this :)

It's good to see people giving the science competitions a go - particularly in a second language! I couldn't imagine entering one in Spanish...
Be careful with google translate though - it butchers some phrases and a lot of meaning (and grammar) can be lost!
