They look like little stones, and yes, they flower every year!

Lithops are mimicry plants, they looks like little stones, but truly it is all about two succulent leaves tying to hide not to be eaten in natural habitat (south Africa).

They have special growing cycle: every spring two new leaves comes out while old one shrivels and dries giving their own nutrition to the newcomers, and every fall they grow and flower in white or yellow.

They dormant in summer and winter, and have special watering needs.
Do not water them in spring till new leaves comes up! After old leaves are reduced to no more then papery shells, you can start to water them once a week. In the most hottest month in summer leave them to dormancy and start to water them again in late summer. Their growing and flowering season season is fall so that is the most important time not to forget to water them. Winter is again period of dormancy, so just keep them in cool and dry place.
Although in nature they thrive at full day of sun, in cultivation is good not to expose them to full sunlight most of the day. They do best at least few hours of direct sun.
