5 Habits That Will Never Let You Be Successful
What does it take to be successful in life? Talent, hard work, luck? Maybe a perfect combination of all of these. You've read books on how to be successful, on what habits to adopt, what courses to pursue, what life skills to master, and yet you seem to be heading nowhere. Success still seems like a distant dream. Hell, even short-term goals are nowhere to be seen. Could it be something in you that doesn't go with success? Look out for these habits and signs that predict success will be hard to come to you.
You Are A Pushover And Give In Easily To Other People.
You may be a hard-worker, you may have the best ideas, you may be supremely talented, but if you let yourself be arm-twisted by others, your potential will not be realised to its fullest. You could be pushed into doing something you don't like to; you could be pushed into doing extra work – whatever it will be, it will never be what you want to do.You Delay Tasks
You always push the most difficult tasks to later. We all do it. The most boring and challenging tasks require the most effort and will power. I need some food before I start working on that presentation. Let me listen to some music to relax. Oh that's my favourite song. Let me send it to my friend. Hey let's go out today.* I'll do it tomorrow when I am in a better frame of mind.* Sound like you? Truth is your life is as series of “I'll do it later” asides to yourself. And you know what happens when you do it later? You miss the opportunity of the present moment. You Are Unable To Take Decisions.
It's not about the bigger decisions. Everyone gets clammy hands when you've to make life-changing decisions of life. It's about the small everyday choices you make. Do you find yourself in a fix every time you go out to eat and have to place an order? You can never decide which pizza topping you want, which pub you want to go to, which movie you want to watch, which idea at the office meeting you like more. If you are a highly indecisive person, you waste half your energy and time in struggling with choices. You Hold Grudges.
You pride yourself in being an evil bitch/nasty badass who gets back at people who hurt you. You never forgive and never forget. You even plan and plot of ways to get back at those who ill-treated you. If someone didn't return your calls, you make sure you don't return theirs either. If a colleague spoke against you in a meeting, you make it a point to boycott them forever. Your waking hours are consumed more by thinking about how others are treating you than by happy thoughts or newer ideas.
Holding a grudge and hating someone takes too much effort. It not only wastes your precious time, it also fills you with negative energy – something that never goes with success.
5.You Don't Take Time Out To Relax And Unwind.
In our desperation to get to the top, we really overdo it. Yes, overdoing is a thing and it can cause you to burn out. You are working day in day out, not pausing to even breathe and you think you are doing the right thing. You miss out on that friend's wedding, you return early from the party because there's work tomorrow, you pull out from the bachelor's trip because you are saving for your startup. Life's best ideas come from life. The mind works best when it's free and happy.
