Success on Steemit: A little more thought (than you thought).

in #success6 years ago (edited)

As you travel through Steemit exploring blogs, videos and sound files, you will occasionally come across people spouting "success" style positive attitude posts talking about how you can earn a lot of money here on the blockchain.

I can see through these things, but many people can't. Oh, is it better to be positive on Steemit? Sure, but it shouldn't be used to pull the wool over people's eyes, but I am not going to talk about that here.

I have seen people, usually those who are against the use of bidbots, say that success on Steemit is about "putting in the hard work". But what does that actually mean?

What hard work?

Shouldn't this be FUN?

And yes, what I am suggesting IS fun.

There are several mechanisms to prevent people from "grinding" here on the platform: depreciating voting strengh, the ability for your followers / audience to adjust their vote levels down or just refuse to upvote your stuff.

So, what I am suggesting as an alternative to the grind of just posting constantly?

Slow down. When it comes to posting a blog entry, as you type scroll down and see what the finished product will look like to your readers as you are typing and adjust it accordingly. Correct grammar and spelling mistakes. Are the tags you choose appropriate? Only use the 'introduceyourself' tag once.

Then, before you click 'Post', check the time of day.
Is your post going to be seen by as many eyeballs as possible or is the rest of the world asleep?

When it comes to competitions, don't just choose the first gif / photo idea that comes to your head. Think it over a little bit longer. See what other people have submitted, and think "Can I do better than this?".

The best jokes are often the ones that have had time to stew a little.

Keep articles short enough to be read fast so you get your point across.
Make the effort to leave comments on other people's work.
Keep your follow numbers limited so people you want to see succeed.
Post less often so that you aren't flooding people's feeds.

Just by adding a little bit of extra thought into what you post can make all
of the difference in the world.

Please consider resteeming this, or better yet, saving the link to it and passing it along to newcomers to the platform and we can make this a much better place for everyone.

Sort:

We're so used to the value-free mindless regurgitation elsewhere.
It's hard to get your head into the idea that you can be genuinely rewarded for adding real value here.
It's worth a proofread. It's worth learning some HTML.
Invest real time and focus to be successful. Good call, mate.

The main inspiration for this was winning 5 SBD (1 SBD is worth nearly $3US, for rough figures rounded up) all for about 20 minutes of extra thought put into what I was doing. It's not the first thought, but rather the cultivated and sifted one that comes out on top.

I will have to work on my html skills.
