This is why goal setting is such a crucial skill to cultivate and something that everyone should spend more time learning
We do this all the time. When we wanted to buy our current home and save to pay cash, I set to work on the budget. I gave us two years; and we were able to buy our home in 21 months.
If we see it in black and white on paper, plus saving all our receipts from purchases, it made the saving aspect MUCH easier. We would ask... do we really need that? That could be another few hundred dollars for the, house, etc.
Having a personal plan and goals is something so many people overlook and never even think about.
Great example, thanks for sharing. That is exactly what goal setting and being specific does. You can see the steps easier and attack them, which makes it that much easier to attain and accomplish.
