Sublime Sunday Drive

To me, lighthouses, signs of bygone times, are always a joy to see. This one is located in Souris. For some unknown reason, Hubby and I are sometimes drawn to take a leisurely car drive there on a Sunday.

The government of PEI have decommissioned the lighthouses and in most instances the community has taken over the lighthouse.

In this lighthouse there are many artifacts of life on the sea. Besides nautical articles there were containers of sea glass in every colour..

Sea glass is broken glass that has been smoothed for years by the motion of the waves and washed ashore on the beaches to be collected by people.

Sea glass hunting is a fun thing to do and I will often see people with a bag or small container searching the beaches for the glass. I have found some, mostly white and green. The red and blue sea glass is rare

One of the many artifacts in the Souris Lighthouse was this old kerosene lamp that was previously used on a ship.

In closing, some roses I saw along the way.

Lighthouses are magnificent structures and it makes you think of all the sea faring vessels they saved by warning them of the rocky coastline !COFFEEA 15

I do enjoy seeing and exploring them, Rob. Thanks, I’m enjoying the COFFEEA. 😊

TIL that there's something called sea glass...interesting.

Combined with the lighthouse, it looks like an interesting place to go...I don't know, every place that I never experienced before just feels like that to me :P

Thanks for stopping by @lilacse. I’m glad you found out interesting. It is a great place to visit.

Wonderful photos @redheadpei I was very interested to learn the sea glass has been categorized as to how rare they are. I'll be scouring the beaches more closely from now on. (lol) Your rose image is exquisite. (U & R )

Thanks so much Trudee @trudeehunter. 💕 Appreciated. I usually take a stroll at the beach and see if any sea glass washes on shore.

LOVE the old kerosene lantern and lights! So nostalgic!

Thanks @goldendawne. Have a great week!

Having a car opens up so much

Hi Wales. It sure beats going there on a horse and buggy. 😊

Its really beautiful lighthouses and sea beach related pictures with white rose flower.

Thanks so much @kamrunnahar! 😊

I reckon you could make jewellery out of that glass. Good post!

Thanks for the visit @extie-dasilva. Yes, they have a sea glass festival here once a year and many vendors have jewelry and other art made with the sea glass.
Enjoy @!COFFEEA @extie-dasilva.

Very nice post @redheadpei, I think lighthouses are pretty cool. The sea glass though is really something, I've never seen those brilliant colors before anywhere.

Thanks @farm-mom. I’m so glad the communities are looking after and restoring the lighthouses in their areas. As for the sea glass, I have found mostly white and green and once a small red one. Those colors are out there, just hard to find. 😊

Terrific post and photos Jo!! I'm glad the community stepped in to take care of the lighthouse. I would love to see it in person and I'd be out there on the beach looking for sea glass too in a heartbeat..lol! I loved seeing all the colors of the sea glass..beautiful!! 🙂

Thanks so much Dee. I always appreciate you kind support. ❤️ It was great the community came together to save the lighthouse. You would really love seeing it.
I enjoy walking the beach on a lovely evening and checking for the sea glass.

You are welcome Jo!! That sounds like a good time to me!! 😊 💞
