Subhashitam #4 - Misconception on old things and new thingssteemCreated with Sketch.

There is huge misconception on the significance of following old things as it is. There is also a misconception that all the new things that are emerging based on generational change are all bad. This is absolutely not true. This below shloka explains this fact beautifully. It is ultimately in the hands of a person to take good things and bad things. Intelligent people based on their experience always choose good things ignoring the fact that the information is old or new. People who are fools always stick to bad things seeking advice from bad associations.

All old things are not good (just because they have been practiced for long) nor all new things are bad (because they are not time tested). Intelligent people opt for the good things (irrespective of whether they are old or new) after thoughtful reflection, whereas the fools decide on good or bad things based on others’ advice.
