Even though it may not look like it, the current Forester’s chassis has been around for nearly two decades. Subaru decided to keep it that way as it provided a good amount of rigidity, versatility and it was quite cheap to make. However, this won’t go for much longer. There are much stricter safety regulations while fuel efficiency will have to improve and the current platform will soon be left in the dust by its newer competitors. While this would be a problem, Subaru had a new platform in development for quite some time. It seems that the future 2018 Subaru Forester would be the first one to adopt it.
