Study Finds People Would Rather Shop Without The Robots

in #study6 years ago

Results from a new study that was conducted by Oracle NetSuite and in partnership with others were recently released and the results suggest that people aren't interested in communicating with robots when they do their shopping either in-store or online.

The study involved 1,200 people as well as hundreds of retail executives from aross Australia, the UK and the United States.

You might find this technology being increasingly used today in a myriad of retail settings, whether it be chatbots to help you make your purchase, digital assistants, or they might provide some virtual reality aspect to the shopping experience etc.

Retailers are increasingly turning toward artificial intelligence to see how it can help them to improve the efficiency and success of their business. It's helping them to be able to collect valuable data about their customers that they can later analyze and potentially act upon. This might include offering customers shopping deals to try to get them to buy more etc.

A growing number of shoppers have been experimenting with this high-tech shopping experience and it's suggested that perhaps there might be some people out there who do want to see these technologies be further implemented in the shopping experience.

One study by BPR previously found that about 48 percent of shoppers reported that they would like to shop at a retailer that utilized augmented reality.

One of the top reasons that retailers are reportedly looking toward embracing more AI in the market is allegedly due to personalization. Following personalization they are interested in gathering data on pricing, using AI for promotions, fraud detection, and more.

Whether buying groceries, furniture, or clothing, this virtual reality technology and more has been coming into the market and slowly changing the buying experience. In a few years from now it might drastically change the buying experience altogether. However, there are still many individuals out there who aren't willing to work with a chatbot or virtual assistant, or use VR to do their shopping.

Retail expert B Phibbs has suggested that a push for better customer service today is whats needed because people don't want to be confused during their shopping experience or feel anxious, but that is how many of them report feeling.

It's estimated that as much as 90 percent of retailers or more aren't confident with using advanced technologies to try and improve the customer experience just yet. However, they have indicated that they believe it might help to improve sales for them if they were to implement it.

I think they have their place, but, there are times I still like to see that smiling face. :))

Thank you for always giving me something to ponder. Have a most wonderful day!

Save human jobs, less robots.

I feel that this data is incomplete.

Most of the "chat-bots" are only annoying, and are unhelpful.
All negatives, no gains.

Like most companies web sites.
I go to a web site and want to review their products, and they don't offer anything. I want to know a specific detail... and its not there.

These company sites don't even explain their numbering/marketing system. Like, what is the difference between the ThinkPad line and the IdeaPad?

So, i find these "chat-bots" annoying pieces of garbage. Mostly because the technicians can't sell, and the salesman can't program.

Oh no I would not want a robot helping me either. It makes the experience way too impersonaland a robot will not talk like a person can. More of a hindrance than a help but thanks for sharing.

I have not yet come across AI assistants or robots while shopping... of course I don't do much shopping in any case - that takes money! I'd love to see what kind of robots are being used, although I suspect they might be targets for vandalism.
