Der mächtige Mond - The mighty moon

Morgen ist wieder Vollmond, und morgen Abend es in Tirol bewölkt sein soll, habe ich gerade diese Bilder gemacht.

Tomorrow is full moon again, and tomorrow evening it should be cloudy in Tirol, I just took these pictures.

Der Mond ist und bleibt was mystisches. Er bewegt die Gezeiten im Meer.

The moon is and remains something mystical. It moves the tides in the sea.

Wenn sich am Strand das Wasser ganz langsam zurückzieht, dann hat der Mond seine unsichtbare Hand im Spiel – das weiß jedes Kind.

When the water slowly withdraws from the beach, the moon has its invisible hand in play - every child knows that.

Das Grundphänomen spielt sich jedoch zwischen Erde und Mond ab. Die Gravitationskraft des Mondes zerrt an der Materie des Planeten. Weil die Stärke dieser Kraft sich mit zunehmendem Abstand verringert, entstehen die Gezeiten.

The basic phenomenon, however, takes place between Earth and Moon. The gravitational force of the moon pulls against the matter of the planet. Because the strength of this force decreases with increasing distance, the tides develop.
