April Fools Day Travel Experience
April !st as well all know is a day that we expect to be encounter some folley . This year it also being Easter how much trouble can one really expect . We decided to visit our son who is in Topeka 140 miles north of us . With speed limits of 75 mph the trip take 2 hrs . I checked the weather and it was forecasted to be in the 40s . So a day trip was planned for the morning with a departure time of around 9-9:30 .
Once we hit the Flint Hills ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flint_Hills ) Mother nature threw her April fools mischief at us . The temperature dropped to 28 deg with freezing rain .
The defroster turned on maximum could not handle the ice . The wipers turned into a block of ice .
We proceeded on with care and finally made it into Topeka just in time for the first announcement of a road weather warning that we could have used earlier that day .
The weather continued for the rest of the day . We had to spend the night and return home the next morning . The local weatherman made only excuses for the wrong reports of earlier .
We had a nice Easter with family . That's what counts

A little bad weather is worth it to spend time with the family. Glad you had a good Easter!
I didn't think we were going to make it . I haven't seen ice like that in years and in April . I was so looking forward to Global Warming . what happen ?
Now its climate change . What the hell does that mean . :)
Family getting together is what it all about .! No matter how hard the journey .
Ahh, bad luck but I guess it was still worth it. You spent time with family. Still weather changing from 40c to 28c and weather man did not inform people is worry-sum sign. Need to change him as he is not doing his job properly :D
they can be wrong 90% of the time and still keep there job
