Stratis (STRAT) - An overview & explantion

in #stratis6 years ago

What is Stratis?
The focus is on security and stability by using the Bitcoin algorithm in conjunction with the latest developments in the areas of network speed, scalability and individual customization options.

What applications does Stratis offer?
Stratis was not conceived per se as a so-called "cash coin". Rather, it makes the technology available for applications in the blockchain area and wants its platform to offer this opportunity not only to large companies, but also to small and medium-sized enterprises.

Possible areas of application are:

Product tracking and verification
Data recording and management (keyword: Internet of Things)
identity management
However, other socio-politically relevant applications are also conceivable.

For example:

Transparency of scientific publications
The coin itself - $STRAT - is the platform's fuel, so to speak, and secures the Stratis blockchain. The STRAT token is used to pay transaction fees and also acts as an instrument to transfer values between Stratis Marketplace participants. In addition, the STRAT Coin also has the option of making anonymous payments. This could well reveal potential uses in the future.

The team behind Stratis

London-based blockchain start-up Stratis was founded by IT specialist Chris Trew. The CEO and developer specializing in C# and ASP.NET technology has been working with blockchain technologies since 2013.

Chris Trew and Policarpo Guerrero - the Director Of Operations - form the management of Stratis. They lead a team of nine (as of 06.09.2017).

The London-based Krushang Patel is responsible for PR and communication. Carlton Pringle is the project manager of Stratis. The development team includes founder Chris Trew and five other qualified programmers: Nicolas Dorier (Stratis Bitcoin Framework), Dan Gershony (Stratis Blockchain), Stéphane Gaudreault (Stratis Solutions Developer), Pieterjan Vanhoof (Stratis Blockchain) and Jeremy Bokobza (Stratis Blockchain).

UI and UX designer Benoît Philibert is in charge of marketing and design and Cesar Castro is Stratis' strategic consultant.

The algorithm is written in C# and is based on the Microsoft .NET framework.

The goal of the developers is to make it possible to set up a blockchain within the Stratis platform in just a few minutes. Once the platform is ready, it will be an open source Bitcoin Full Node Framework and cloud-based.

Stratis is therefore much more accessible to potential users than Bitcoin, for example, and thus offers a clear advantage.

Stratis is under constant development. For example, the developers plan to complete the Java and Javascript API in the fourth quarter of 2017. This step paves the way for the further expansion of Stratis and represents an important milestone for many potential users.

How and where can I buy / trade Stratis?
If you want to buy STRAT - or invest in this idea - you have to register at one of the following trading platforms and have the possibility (usually) to trade US dollars or bitcoin against Stratis.

Market Available Option
BitTrex ✓ Trade BTC, ETH
Bitfinex x Not available
Octopus x Not available
Poloniex ✓ Trade BTC
Lykke x Not available
Anycoindirect * ✓ Buy & Sell
A quick and easy way to purchase $STRAT and pay directly via Giropay is Anycoindirect.

A wallet address is required when purchasing Stratis. More information on wallets can be found in the next section (The Digital Wallet). After the purchase the coins will be transferred to this address. As soon as the coins are listed in the Wallet, you can dispose of your STRAT(s), use them to pay, trade or even have them generate "interest" via a special Wallet (Proof of Stake).

The Stratis digital wallet
In order to be able to store purchased $STRAT securely, it is recommended to install an appropriate wallet in advance instead of "leaving" the coins online at a so-called Exchange service, for example.

So you can take care of the safety of your coins yourself. If in doubt, you decide what to do with your crypto currency.

This applies not only to Stratis, but generally in the crypto market. For example, if a trading platform is attacked and coins are stolen, they are usually irretrievably lost and no one will replace them. With a locally stored wallet you are safer from such attacks.

Stratis offers two different Wallet variants. The "Staking Wallet" is the technically more comprehensive version.

However, this wallet also generates interest, so to speak. More information can be found in the next section (Proof of Stake).

Since the Staking Wallet takes a lot of time to synchronize the blockchain and requires a permanent internet connection to participate in the Proof of Stake process, you can also use the Stratis Electrum Wallet if it's just about holding or trading its STRAT.

Stratis Electrum (Windows, Linux and Mac)

This is what the Electrum looks like:

Stratis Electrum
Stratis Electrum
A very simple interface that shows you on your computer how many Stratis you have. You can use it to send and receive STRAT. So if you want to buy at Anycoindirect, use the address under "Reveive" and the coins will be sent to your wallet.

Proof of Stake - no mining, but interest?
Unlike Bitcoin, for example, the cryptographic currency Stratis cannot be "mined".

Instead, the use of Staking Wallets maintains the function of the Stratis network. In the network, one block and thus a new STRAT token is generated every 60 seconds. Each participating Staking Wallet is then given the chance to be selected at random and to benefit from it - remotely comparable to interest income on Fiat currencies.

The more tokens there are in a wallet, the higher the chance of receiving generated tokens.

Stratis' future and performance
At the current time (15.09.2017) Stratis has a value around 4-8 USD. The maximum level to date has been around USD 11.

However, the company and the roadmap are very well positioned. The coin is currently undervalued and the project has a lot of potential.

Not least due to the easy adaptation via C#, but the broad target group across all company sizes.
